At a staggering 216m, Bloukrans is the highest commercially operating bungee in the world, as verified by the Guinness Book of Records.
The setting is breathtaking – even before you get up onto the bridge with a bungee strapped to your ankles! Right in the heart of the Tsitsikama Forest, 40 km from Plettenberg Bay, you will find the highest single span arch bridge in the world.
Your options for approaching the challenges presented by this formidable structure are:
Bungee Jumping
The ultimate thrill, most people come to Bloukrans to bungee off the bridge.
You are secured in a full body harness and then proceed along a specially designed catwalk suspended beneath the road surface of the bridge. This takes you to the pinnacle of the arch, 216 meters above the Bloukrans River.
You will be given specific instructions and while loud music plays to get you revved up you will be walked to the edge and wait for your countdown.
You will not be pushed, but you will propel yourself off the bridge and fly headfirst towards the river far below.
Because Bloukrans uses pendulum bungee technology, you will experience the smoothest, most comfortable jump possible.
Flying Fox
A relatively new addition to the Bloukrans menu, the Flying Fox is perfect for families and people not ready for the regular bungee jump.
You will travel along a 200 m cable slide (aka “foofie slide” by the locals) out onto the archway of the bridge! You can combine this with a bungee jump for the ‘Double Rush Combo’, but it stands alone as a great adrenalin rush all on its own.
We also offer the Bridge Walking Tour – you get walk along a spectacular and specially designed catwalk to the top of the arch from where you look out over the Gorge to the mountains and the sea in the distance. A guide will educate you in some of the incredible engineering feats that went into building this amazing bridge – the largest single span bridge in the world!
A live bungee show – watching the jumpers ‘do it’ – makes this a thrill for voyeurs who cannot bring themselves to jump and prefer to live vicariously!
