CAPE TOWN ABSEILING

Although listed in every adrenalin-lovers’ brochure, abseiling is actually one of the safest of the so-called ‘extreme’ sports. This doesn’t make it any less exciting however – it’s almost impossible not to experience a rush when repelling down breath-taking cliff faces and waterfalls! No experience is required, although you do need a little courage to take that first ‘step’ over the edge. Cape Town (and surrounds) has some incredible abseiling venues, as you’d expect from the mountainous terrain of the region.

Table Mountain

The iconic flat-topped mountain is universally recognized as the symbol of Cape Town. Abseiling down the 112 metre controlled descent - the highest commercial abseil in the world - is a great way to ensure you always remember your visit to the Mother City of South Africa!

Kamikaze Canyon

Tired of lounging around the hotel and shopping malls? For a day of extreme fun and adventure for novices or old-hands, Kamikaze Canyon is the perfect antidote for the cabin-fever blues. A stunning river gorge, you can hike, ‘kloof’ (jump off high cliffs into icy rock pools) and abseil down a 60 m waterfall!
